Fostering saves lives

A foster’s stay may only be temporary, but the love you share will last a lifetime!

Our residents need foster families for a variety of reasons:

  • Special needs animals that need a little extra time and care before adoption

  • Rescue and relocation: animals that have been accepted by a rescue organization and need a place to stay until their transport date

  • Making space in the shelter, sometimes we just don't have enough space for all the animals being brought in. Fostering one or two animals allows us to house one or two more properly.

  • Fostering allows you to get to know a pet before adopting, to see if it is the right fit.

  • Fostering allows you to get to know the pets personality as well as help it get socialized and gives us a better idea of the pets personality so we can let potential adopters know.

  • Foster parents must be at least 19 years old and have the extra time to commit to an additional dog or cat in their household.

  • Foster families provide their guest with food, water, shelter, basic obedience and a safe, loving environment.

  • You may also be required to provide transportation to and from the shelter, offsite adoption events, and veterinary appointments
